Freelance Photo Retoucher // Freelance Image Editor
Hi, my name is Chris and I am addicted to Photo Retouching!
After falling in love with Photoshop and what it could do, I began editing images as a photo retoucher then quickly becoming a retouch manager, project manager, freelance retoucher before forming my own company. I have been photo retouching for over 25 years, mostly as a freelance retoucher either on-site at clients locations or remotely. For most of my career, I was in England working at highly regarded reprographics companies working on global packaging companies, high street brands and mail-order client accounts covering all types of retouching.
For the last 25 years, I have been involved with photo retouching for major retail fashion companies whether it was working at a retouching company as a full time photo retoucher, or later as a freelance retoucher , I have had some connection to them. Back then, digital cameras weren't a thing and the internet was in its infancy. Online shopping wasn't around. Retailers would rely on home shopping catalogs to sell their products. The models would need to look perfect and the printed material color would have to match the clothing . To do this, they would require Photo Retouching services from Photo retouching companies. We would scan photographs into a computer, edit the images, the images would be made into a page and then sent to the printers.

Later came the digital camera, it eliminated the need for scanning but the photo retouching services were still necessary for the printed catalogues. More recently as printed catalogues demand declined and internet shopping was taking off, retouching was now required for the internet. It was great for home shopping companies as it meant they could instantly sell new fashions instead of waiting 3 months or so for the next seasonal catalog release.
I have retouched tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of image for retail companies performing every kind of photo retouching instruction possible, the majority being swatch matching, color correction, skin retouching, background extensions, creative retouching, color retouching, pixel retouching, the list goes on!
